The Biennale Musica returns in 2025 with the 69° International Festival of Contemporary Music, entitled “The star inside”. Directed by Caterina Barbieri, the Festival will take place in Venice from’11 to 25 October 2025, and promises a deep immersion in the music of our time: experimentation, contaminations and site-specific performances that explore the evocative concept of “cosmic music”. A title that invites openness towards the vast, the possible, the shared: sound that goes beyond borders, dialogue with nature, with water, with the unknown.
The program is vast and complex, and includes artists from the international scene who work between electronic music, minimalism, ancient music, techno, folk, drone, and sound experiments. Some productions will be exclusive commissions for Venice, site-specific installations – many also linked to the relationship between sound and water, which dialogue with the lagoon – and performances that challenge conventional categories. Of particular importance is the Biennale College Musica project, which selects new projects through tenders: training, residency, creation and debut in the Festival.
